Gun raffle benefits veterans
Hosted at West Willow Fire Company
Join us as we raffle over 40 prizes, enjoy each other’s company, and make new connections.
The annual Building Bridges Foundation gun raffle has grown each year, and it looks like 2023 will be no different. Tickets include food & beverage, are $20 in advance and may be purchased in person. Please contact us via phone (717-756-6945 or 717-368-3019) or email if you would like tickets.
Over the past seven years, this gun raffle has helped more than 250 Veterans participate in the Building Bridges Foundation equine-assisted therapy and Veterans Café programs at no charge to the Veterans.
Very Well Mind applauds equine-assisted therapy for being “non-judgmental and unbiased” because a horse will “only react to the client’s behavior and emotions.” It is a method of helping that has been practiced for centuries, and believed to have begun in ancient Greece. The practice first started in the United States in the 19670s, after the establishment of the North American Riding for the Handicap Association. To learn more about the history of equine-assisted therapy, check out The Anxiety Treatment Center.
The Veterans Café at Building Bridges Foundation is held every Thursday morning, and is considered an oasis to many of the Veterans who attend each week. While not a formal therapy/support group, stories are shared and people help each other while at Vets Café and beyond. To learn more about the Vets Café, check out our webpage.
