The annual Building Bridges Foundation gun raffle has grown each year, and continues to provide valuable funding to support our Veterans in need. Over the past eight years, this gun raffle has helped more than 300 Veterans participate in the Building Bridges Foundation equine-assisted therapy and Veterans Café programs at no charge to the Veterans.

Very Well Mind applauds equine-assisted therapy for being “non-judgmental and unbiased” because a horse will “only react to the client’s behavior and emotions.” It is a method of helping that has been practiced for centuries, and believed to have begun in ancient Greece. The practice first started in the United States in the 19670s, after the establishment of the North American Riding for the Handicap Association. The Veterans Café at Building Bridges Foundation is held every Thursday morning, and is considered an oasis to many of the Veterans who attend each week. While not a formal therapy/support group, stories are shared and people help each other while at Vets Café and beyond. To learn more about the Vets Café, check out our webpage.
