Correcting an Injustice: Black Valor Reviewed

Presented by Stephen Shaw
Thursday, August 17, 2023

During WWII white soldiers were invincible. Black soldiers were invisible. During WWII, 294 Medals of Honor were awarded but not one to a black soldier. This is a story of personal, political and systemic institutional racism. This is a story of belated integration of the military and African-American soldiers finally being recognized for their valor. Illustrated examples will be presented from the Civil War to present.
